RGP liaising with Spanish counterparts after Gibraltar vehicle involved in police chase

The RGP is liaising with its Spanish counterparts after being contacted about an incident involving a Gibraltar registered car in Spain.

The vehicle was reportedly involved in a police chase at around half past 4 this morning, that ended in a collision on the A7 near Los Barrios.

Spanish media report that the car crashed into a lorry, which overturned.  A chase on foot followed, with a witness reporting officers firing a shot before making an arrest.

There's no further information on the lorry driver, although he was not attended to by an ambulance on the scene.

It wasn't the end of the drama - two hours later, a car crashed into the the lorry - which had remained on the hard shoulder - causing significant delays to commuters on the road for several hours.

The investigation continues.
