The Royal Gibraltar Police says it's stepping up its protective security posture at Jewish sites and venues on the Rock.

This follows the fatal stabbing of two men at a synagogue in Manchester on Thursday, during a service for the holy day of Yom Kippur.

In a post on social media, the RGP expressed "its deepest condolences to the families and friends affected by the horrific events in Manchester".

The Greater Manchester Police deployed extra officers across the city following the attack, while the Guardian reports that MI5 and counter-terrorism police will operate at a heightened state of alert in the coming weeks.

On the Rock, the RGP says it will take proactive measures, including an increase in patrols, and enhanced engagement with the Jewish Security Committee.

It says all officers have been briefed to remain on high alert for any potential threats or risks.

The RGP calls on the public to remain vigilant, and report anything that seems out of place or suspicious.

You can contact the police on 200 72500 or the online reporting portal at police.gi - and, in an emergency, by calling 999.
