Robbery trial begins at the Supreme Court

A robbery trial has begun at the Supreme Court. 

Bruce Garcia and Nicholas Valverde are accused of robbery and conspiracy to rob. 

The 37 year-olds are alleged to have been involved in the theft of over £700 from a mini supermarket. 

It took the court an hour and a half to empanel a jury, due to the number of people who knew the defendants.

Acting for the Crown, Johan Fernandez opened the case.

He said during the trial, the jury would hear evidence of messages between the defendants, as well as being shown CCTV footage.

He described the incident as being 'scary' for the victim.

The case is set to span two weeks.
