Suspect article investigated by bomb squad in south district a damp squib

An incident in the area of Vineyards on Monday afternoon, where a suspected ordnance was found in a private garden, turned out to be something of a damp squib.

The area of Rosia Plaza and Vineyards was temporarily closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic with RGP officers going door to door asking all residents to close their windows.

A Police cordon was effected with the MOD's Bomb disposal Unit and specialist personnel deployed to conduct assessments.

The road reopened in under an hour and no controlled explosion deemed necessary.
