The Minister for Trade and Industry has welcomed investment in a new games development studio, which will offer local job opportunities in animation, software engineering and generative AI

Rocktec Ltd has been funded by Casino Admiral and Apex pro gaming, a manufacturer and operator of casino games and equipment.

Nigel Feetham said Rocktec had chosen Gibraltar as its innovation hub on the back of discussions with the government, on the basis of a shared vision around the future of technology, AI and research in this area.

He said initiatives like this strengthen Gibraltar’s economy and support talent development locally, while reinforcing Gibraltar’s reputation as a tier one gaming hub.

Mr Feetham, who was recently in Abu Dhabi to meet with international tech firms has emphasised the importance he puts on the Rock’s policy initiatives around AI.

He said this investment further confirms Gibraltar’s status as a forward looking business centre.
