Two local men appeared before the Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

20 year old Marcus Aguilera and 22 year old Jothan Sardeña were also charged with possession of cannabis resin.

They were charged in relation to what the Royal Gibraltar Police says was a "serious assault" on an off-duty RGP officer in Ocean Village last October.

The RGP says the officer was punched, kicked and had his head stamped on, leading to multiple lacerations and bruising.

Following an investigation, the two defendants were charged on Monday evening.

The case has been adjourned until next week.
