Disruption to eGov services caused by failed migration of services & data by external provider

Disruption to eGov services has been caused by a failed migration of services and data by an external provider.

The problem arose during maintenance work to bring the entire eGov system in-house.

A transition to a new system will now begin on a phased basis.

Priority will be given to GHA and Vehicle licensing services, with full restoration across all eGov services expected in February.

The upgraded system will use open-source, licence-free software.

The Government says this will save money and provide greater flexibility, while reducing reliance on external providers.
