Enterprise scheme opens to year-round applications

Applications for the Gibraltar Enterprise Scheme will now be accepted all year round and are now possible through a dedicated portal on the Office of Fair Trading's website.

The government has also published assessment criteria for potential applicants.

The Gibraltar Enterprise Scheme is a soft loan initiative offered by the government of between 10 and 25 thousand pounds, aimed at helping start-ups and small businesses.

Previously, applications were only invited during limited windows, whereas this new setup will allow submissions any time of year.

Minister for Business, Gemma Arias-Vasquez said this increased accessibility will give businesses more freedom, while she hopes the guidance in the application portal will also improve the calibre of submissions, noting that there had been a wide range in the quality of applications reached so far.
