The Minister for Justice has welcomed the "strong and welcome show of support" from Labour MP Gareth Snell in the House of Commons debate on the Finance Bill.

Nigel Feetham told GBC it was clear that the bill's rise in remote gaming duties was not going to be reversed.

However, he said the concern at this stage is the need to avoid any further unexpected economic shocks that could further impact tax revenues.

This sentiment was expressed in yesterday's Commons debate by Gareth Snell, who called for an assurance from the UK Government that there would be no future surprises and significant tax changes that would hit places like Gibraltar.

In response, the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury said they would continue to engage with ministers on the Rock.

However, Dan Tomlinson said it would not be appropriate for him to "write future budgets" at the dispatch box.
