A UK MP has asked what contingency measures are in place to support Gibraltar if the gambling tax creates a black hole in the Rock's budget.

During a House of Commons debate on the upcoming Finance Bill which includes plans to increase gambling tax substantially, Labour MP Gareth Snell highlighted the impact of the tax on Gibraltar's gaming sector.

He asked about conversations, contingencies and a bail out for the Rock, however, the Economic Secretary to the Treasury limited herself to stating there has been engagement with those in Gibraltar.
