The Government has announced a number of improvements to increase pedestrian safety.
The first measure is the installation of a new light-controlled pedestrian crossing on Line Wall Road, next to the Youth Centre following public feedback.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling along the road, to remain alert to the new crossing, and to fully comply with traffic signals and pedestrian priority at all times.
At Keightley Way Tunnel, new demarcation bollards have been added to enhance visibility for vehicles entering the tunnel.
Outside all schools, the words "School Zone" is clearly demarcated on approach roads. These are designed to increase driver awareness, encourage reduced speeds when approaching and reinforce the need for more caution.
The initiative forms part of the Government's wider programme to improve road safety and promote sustainable modes of transport, particularly walking.
Transport Minister John Cortes said he remains committed to delivering a transport network that prioritises safety, improves accessibility and encourages walking where appropriate.
