The Ministry of Equality has marked the United Nations International Day of Older Persons with a morning panel discussion at the Mayor’s Parlour.

Opening the event, Equality Minister Christian Santos paid tribute to the generation of Gibraltarians who lived through the evacuation, the repatriation and the closing of the frontier.

Sir Joe Bossano - the Constituency MP responsible for Senior Citizens, spoke about the positive contributions they can continue to make in post-retirement life.

The panel discussion covered the services and support provided by the Government through the Care Agency, the launch of GibSilver line, the importance of social interaction and physical activity and the link to mental and physical well-being.

Stalls by Government departments, organisations and charities offered information about their services and support for older members of the community.

The Ministry of Equality has collaborated with charities and organisations to mark the International Day of Older Persons throughout the week with different free activities.
