The Ministry of Defence says it's collaborating closely with all stakeholders, including trade unions, to reach a resolution to the industrial action declared by some workers onboard RFA Lyme Bay.

Around 25 members of staff, represented by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport workers, have been protesting at the dockyard.

They rejected a pay offer from their employer, with the union saying staff work up to 12 hour days but there is no clear formula setting out how pay is calculated.

In response to GBC questions, the MoD says Royal Fleet Auxiliary seafarers are highly valued specialists who play a critical role in supporting Defence operations around the world.

It says it remains committed to working constructively with the maritime unions to reach a resolution that reflects the workers' contribution, but adds it will not provide further comment until the end of the negotiations.
