Nicholas Guerrero will be appointed Mayor on the 16th of December following his stint as deputy to Carmen Gomez.
He will be joined by lifelong performer, Andrea Simpson as Deputy Mayor, with Fabian Picardo today giving notice that both appointments will be proposed through a motion in Parliament tomorrow.
Nicholas Guerrero spent over two decades working for the Tourist Board, promoting Gibraltar as a destination to the outside world, before retiring in 2021.
He became deputy mayor in 2023 and in recent months came to the fore in this role, taking over from Ms Gomez as he presented the Mayor’s Awards, bestowed the Freedom of the City upon Sir Bob Neill and presided over various other ceremonies.
Andrea Simpson will join Mr Guerrero, a familiar face - and voice - to most of us on the Rock. She began her singing career as a young girl, with the Chief Minister describing Mrs Simpson as a cornerstone of Gibraltar's cultural life
As a singer, presenter and entertainer in a career spanning decades, the Chief Minister said he was delighted to propose her name on behalf of the government.
