The Police Authority is developing a new paid director role to support its oversight function and is proposing amendments to the Police Act.

A steering group overseeing implementation of the McGrail Inquiry recommendations has met for the third time, co-chaired by the Governor and Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.

The Royal Gibraltar Police reported improvements to search warrant procedures, senior officer oversight and decision-making in serious cases.

The group also heard from His Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary Lee Freeman on UK policing reforms, and received a briefing on a visit to the States of Jersey Police to examine governance models suitable for small jurisdictions.

A Police Board model is among the options under consideration for the longer-term reform of RGP governance.
