A 37 year old local man is on trial accused of voyeurism and the possession of indecent images of children.
The charges date back to between 2020 and 2022.
At the Supreme Court, the jury were empanelled and the Director of Public Prosecutions, Christian Rocca, opened the case.
The trial is the culmination of a Royal Gibraltar Police investigation into Mid Harbours resident Gavin Dalton. Officers were given information that someone in his residence had been accessing indecent images of children. Police searched the property, seizing and analysing devices found.
Mr Dalton’s phone was said to have multiple VPN apps downloaded, as well as an app enabling access to the dark web.
An SD card found in his room contained multiple indecent images of children, ranging from Category A to C. The defendant says he does not know how they got on his memory card.
Also on the card were the four videos linked to the Voyeurism charge – these show someone going to the bathroom, as well as three videos of the same person sleeping in a state of undress. All videos were made without their knowledge or consent.
While Gavin Dalton admits to making the recordings, he denies they were made for his sexual gratification.
The case continues.
