A 37 year old local man has been found guilty of voyeurism and the moving of indecent images of children.

Mid Harbours resident Gavin Dalton committed the offences between 2020 and 2022.

The guilty verdict is the culmination of a Royal Gibraltar Police investigation, after officers were given a tip-off from a UK cyber agency.

After the verdict, his case was adjourned for sentencing and he was granted bail.

The unanimous verdict follows a four day trial at the Supreme Court.

The jury made their decision after hearing evidence from both the crown and defence, including from police officers, digital forensic experts and Gavin Dalton himself.

The Court heard Dalton’s phone had multiple VPN apps downloaded, as well as an app enabling access to the dark web.

An SD card found in his room contained 22 files that had been deleted, when retrieved they were found to relate to indecent images of children, ranging from Category A to C.

Also found were the four recordings linked to the Voyeurism charge – these show someone going to the bathroom, as well as three videos of the same person sleeping in a state of undress. All videos were made without their knowledge or consent.

Dalton was later charged with voyeurism and the moving of the indecent images from his phone to the SD card.

After the summing up of the case from Judge John Restano, the jury took around an hour to find Dalton guilty.

A pre-sentence report was ordered and the case adjourned until January.

Jamie Hammond represented the Defendant, with Christian Rocca and Jenny Allen for the Crown.
