The Spanish far-right political party Vox has launched a campaign to show its opposition to Gibraltar's inclusion in international sports competitions.

This comes after Gibraltar was recently admitted as a member of Rugby Europe and the International Padel Federation.

The Spanish Rugby Federation has already formally appealed against Gibraltar's Rugby Europe membership, saying this should be exclusively for countries.

Now, Vox has echoed this sentiment, and is calling on the Government to reject Gibraltar's inclusion on the grounds that it infringes on Spain's national sovereignty.

Vox also calls for the Government to submit a formal complaint to the International Padel Federation.

Asked for comment by GBC, Gibraltar Rugby says it's confident that it carried out its membership application correctly and in line with the Rugby Europe byelaws.

A spokesperson said they look forward to participating in the Rugby Europe competition later this summer.
