The Commissioner says the Royal Gibraltar Police will reflect on the recommendations made by the jury in delivering its accidental death verdict in the inquest into the deaths of Mustafa Dris Mohamed and Mohamed Abdeslam Ahmed.

Owain Richards says the RGP will review these recommendations carefully against the policies and process that, he says, have already been implemented since this tragic incident took place.

Mr Richards extended his condolences and those of the RGP to the families of the two men who died in the crash in 2020.

He said he also wanted to acknowledge the "significant impact" the incident and inquest had had on the officers involved and their families.

Meanwhile, the Police Federation said "there have been no winners in this case".

The union said the inquest has highlighted the risks taken by law enforcement officer every day.

It said they "need to be given all the equipment and support they require to do the job as safely as is possible".
