Future of The Mount now open to potential developers

The future of The Mount is now open to potential developers.

The Government has published an Official Notice outlining how it wants the site restored and operated.

Developers and investors are being invited to submit proposals for the site of The Mount including the Main Residence, the Porters Lodge, the Parasol Events Hall and the swimming pool.

The Government says the preferred use for the Main Residence is as a boutique hotel. In its official notice, it proposes the lower section of the grounds be operate under a Garden Licence, to ensure continued public access with conditions attached for beautification and routine maintenance as part of the overall project. 

The Government says it will refurbish the Parasol Events Hall before handover and that on completion, it will need to be made available to the Parasol Foundation once a year, free of charge. The Notice also points out the Hall must retain its name in recognition of the donation for its refurbishment. 

Submissions must be made to Land Property Services by noon on the 27th of March 2026.
