The Spanish environmental group Verdemar Ecologistas en Acción has raised its concerns about Gibraltar at the European Parliament.
The group says it called on MEPs to include environmental safeguards in any future UK–EU agreement on Gibraltar.
Speaking to the European Parliament’s Committee on Petitions, its chair Antonio Muñoz Secilla highlighted issues the group links to Gibraltar, including land reclamation, untreated wastewater discharges, illegal fishing and bunkering activities.
Verdemar argues these affect the wider region and the European Union.
