Sanchez welcomes GSLP as full member of Socialist International

The Spanish Premier has welcomed the Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party as a full member of Socialist International.

Pedro Sanchez is also the current president of the worldwide organisation of social democratic, socialist and labour parties. 

With today marking 50 years since the death of Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, the GSLP also highlights how far things have progressed from 1988 - when its first application for Socialist International membership stalled because the PSOE would have blocked it. 

This year, the GSLP says, it was approved unanimously, with the support of the head of the Spanish Government - who sent a message of congratulations.
